A project and a company exploring the possibilities for museums given the latest developments in technology such as the Internet of Things and 3D printing.

What if you could make your own collection from any of the museums in the world? What could it mean for your museum box to know what objects are in it? What new experiences might be unlocked if the box is connected to the Internet? How does that help people with different boxes connect and share?

For our initial prototyping (at least) we’re investigating 3D scanning and different types of 3D printing to produce facsimiles that you can pick up and feel. They’re given NFC/RFID tags to let them link back to the digital realm: either with your NFC-capable phone, or via the “brain” to unlock richer, related audio and video.
