Self-directed project to allow an online audience to interact with the performers and in-person audience at a gig.
The Rathole Radio podcast broadcasts live online once-a-fortnight and encourages a loyal community of online listeners who chat about the show on IRC as the show is recorded.
When the show spawned a gig - the Rathole Roadshow - it was obviously going to be streamed live online to any listeners who couldn’t make it to Liverpool in person.
We thought that with such a devout online following, it would be a shame for the artists to miss out on the feedback from those in the IRC channel. So we built the Audiencebot, which monitored the conversation in the chatroom and at the end of each song translated that into drumming on boxes, wine bottles and a beer keg - giving the online audience a way to make their appreciation known in the live venue.
